16th Annual Art Inspiring Hope Gala
On March 6th, guests joined us at Art du Jour, and stepped into a world of color and light in celebration and support of the Okizu programs. Our 16th annual gala was held at the Herbst Pavilion at Fort Mason Center.
Art Cars donned the entrance as a perfect photo opportunity amidst the setting sun on the San Francisco Bay. Guests proceeded into the artists’ loft where creativity and inspiration flourished (paintbrushes provided) and together they created an art mural, which transformed into a beautiful symbol of hope for children with cancer and their families. A graffiti wall unveiled itself as an impressive tribute to Okizu, and party-goers enjoyed specialty cocktails from the loft where they had a front-row seat to watch the master graffiti artist at work.
After wandering through the zig-zagged gallery of art from some of San Francisco’s finest artists, guests found themselves at a mystery puzzle that slowly revealed itself over the course of the evening. At an event where art abounds, everyone should have a piece, and every piece was a chance to win a beautiful piece of master art or a trip to New York.
After tasty libations and competitive bidding in the silent auction, our starving artists proceeded to the dining room, where themed centerpieces were featured as a conversation piece for some and collectibles for others. Each centerpiece was themed after a different artist, from a different period in art history, and specially made for this year’s gala. Ten artists created
these centerpieces, and donated their time and materials to create these spectacular pieces. After a delicious dinner, rousing live auction and enthusiastic show of support for “Send a Kid to Camp,” there was dancing to the tunes of local favorite, the Timebandits!
Our guests say it best:
“This year’s AIH was spectacular. There was a buzz before one walked through the front doors and it increased with every step into the reception, entrance and silent auction room. All the rooms were filled with excitement and activity and it was obvious everyone was having a great time.”
“Who could not have walked through those endless aisles of fantastic bidding items and animated guests and not been inspired by the dedication… the venue is perfect for parking and set up of the auction. Plus, whoever catered that event did a fantastic job of great food and presentation–the service too was excellent and the band FUN. And holding the magic was the thread of the mission of Camp Okizu and the hope, fun and transformation it has given to campers for more than two decades…I literally woke up with sparkles all over my face from the night before–the face painting helped.”
